Being stuck inside on an unexpected snow day can be cozy and peaceful. Before the
kids get bored, try one (or several) of these ideas for making snow days magical.
By Elise Walter

4.
Go on a hunt.
Create a simple treasure
hunt or scavenger hunt
with things around the
house. Preschoolers will
enjoy a fashlight safari
looking for stuffed animals
you've hidden.
Have a picnic.
Put a blanket on the
family room foor,
fnd some picnic
food, and enjoy
pretending to eat
alfresco. You can
also make a special
treat together like
homemade pretzels
and include it in the
picnic fare.
8.
Make cloud dough.
Simply combine 1
cup baby oil with 8
cups of four. This
soft, moldable dough
should be put in a
large plastic con-
tainer, and kids will
love sculpting with
it (be prepared for a
mess).
9.
Put on a show.
Get creative juices
fowing by planning and
performing a concert,
talent show, or puppet
show (you could also
make puppets from old
socks or paper bags).
Recruit neighbor kid if
necessary.
