The regional partnership also includes career and technical education centers, WorkOnes, community colleges and local economic development representatives. Automotive Service Technician Truck Driver Welding Certified Nursing Assistant Expanded Duty Dental Assistant Pharmacy Technician Computer Support Specialist The WorkINdiana program allows students to work toward a GED and career certificate at the same time. Harrison County Lifelong Learning is an active member of the Region 10 Adult Education Consortium. This group serves Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Scott, and Washington Counties in Southern Indiana with The consortium, in conjunction with the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has implemented short term occupational training to adult students resulting in industryrecognized certifications. The DWD created the WorkINdiana certification program because almost one third of Indiana���s workforce (over 900,000 individuals) does not have the skills necessary to succeed in today���s workforce. Currently the Region 10 consortium offers the following WorkINdiana certification programs: Automotive Service Technician, Truck Driver, Welding, Certified Nursing Assistant, Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Computer Support Specialist. ���We determined that these training programs have a promising future and are conveniently located for our adult students,��� notes Doug Robson, director of Harrison County Lifelong Learning and consortium member. Suite 104 Corydon, IN 47112 812.738.7736 A recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report showed continued demand in the healthcare sector, with 45,000 health care jobs added to the economy in December 2012. These jobs accounted for nearly one-third of total non-farm payroll employment. Ambulatory health care services, hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities reported the largest increase in jobs added. By and large, the most job demand has been for pharmacy technicians, with nearly 2,700 job openings according to Hound.com, a leading job site. As the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in enacted, hospitals and healthcare facilities are preparing to serve millions of Americans who will soon be eligible for health insurance. This, along with an aging baby-boomer population, has resulted in a boom of health care services that is expected to continue through 2016.
