The 10th annual Chili and Brew Bonanza raised $15,000 for the sponsoring Jeffersonville Main Street for its operating budget and projects to promote downtown. Board members and numerous volunteers hosted the event at Kye's with support from several business and community sponsors. Cheering on the non-profit were Mary Helen Edwards, Tri Kappa president; Marta Miranda-Straub, recently retired CEO (Chief Empowerment Of- ficer) of the center; and Elizabeth Wessels-Martin, the new CEO. Marta was the guest speaker, who addressed the array of critical services provided for women and families at no charge at the center's New Albany shelter on Charlestown Road. Kevin Anderson II entered the competi- tion as a chili maker representing the Clark County Democrats. Jeffersonville High School students Haley Hedricks and Emma Ellis won the People's Choice Chili Award. Mike Berry and Michelle Kristiansen of Stock Yards Bank, which was a table sponsor, proudly showed their support.
