Jan/Feb 2018 • 40 B renda's weight loss journey began in February 2016. Her beginning weight was 292 pounds. High blood pressure, swollen legs, high cholesterol and a bad back were a part of her everyday life. "I was a mess," she said. Having tried several diets over the years, she has lost over 100 pounds four different times. This time, she wanted it to stick. This led her to the HMR program. HMR offered her structure as well as accountability from classes and coaching. Brenda said she feels the support from classmates and coaches has been invalu- able. "I could not have done it without them. I learned something at every meet- ing. The beauty of being in class is that everyone is on the same journey. I under- stand what they are going through and they understand me," Brenda said. Some people might say the pro- gram's cost is a deterrent. Brenda ex- plained, "HMR is costly but so are medi- cations, doctor visits and funerals." Brenda admits that her life has changed drastically. Being 115 pounds lighter has made everyday chores easier, she has fewer aches and pains, and she finds shopping fun again. She also doesn't mind looking in the mirror. Brenda said she would encourage others to join the HMR program. "Just do itl What do you have to lose? If you give up, you have lost what makes life worth living. I say choose life!" • Health & Fitness Brenda's Journey HMR Program at Baptist Health provides accountability and coaching on path to wellness Pictured: Brenda before (right) and after (left) participating in the HMR Program at Baptist Health Floyd. They're made around kitchen tables, porch swings, or over dinner by real people trying to do the right thing for their families today—and in the days to come. At MainSource, we understand. In fact, it's the reason we're here...And it's why we're working hard to make MainSource the kind of bank that's built around the way you live.
