His son Jon Mathes then became a pharmacist and succeeded his father in running the business. The pharmacy was originally in a building across the street from its current location, at the corner of Charlestown Road and Vincennes Street, and its original location currently serves as its medical equipment store. Jon Mathes became business part- ners with Joe Dones, a fellow pharmacist, from 1993 until Mathes retired in 2004. Joe Dones now co-owns the pharmacy with his wife, Karen, who is also a pharmacist. In April, they opened a second loca- tion in Georgetown. "That was an existing pharmacy that had been there for a long time, probably 40 or 50 years. The pharmacist there re- tired so we had the opportunity," Joe Do- nes said. "It closed and three months later we opened up." The co-owners are also currently working on a new building for their New Albany pharmacy. "Right now all of our focus is right out here in the parking lot," Joe Dones said. "This building will be taken down so it'll just be everything under one roof in the new building." Joe Dones said that having the op- portunity to open a new location and build a new facility in this day and time is an accomplishment. "We're still growing, still moving forward." Their strong community relation- ships are evident through this expansion.
