The season will kick off with the annual Downtown Holiday Open House on Nov. 9. From 5 to 9 p.m., mer- chants will reveal their holiday windows with hope of being selected as the year's display winner. Thus, the Christmas shop- ping season officially begins, and excite- ment is in the air. If you like to haggle, Deal with the Dealer is just the thing. Twice a year, two local antique dealers, Lumber Mill An- tique Mall and Persnickety, let you name your price — within reason. This antique lovers' event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10. Madison boasts three award-win- ning wineries, Madison Vineyards Estate Winery, Thomas Family Winery and Lan- thier Winery, each with its own unique style and atmosphere. Lanthier Winery gets the holidays underway with two popular events, Festival of Trees and Host of Angels, which run from Nov. 23 to Dec. 24. Over 100 decorated trees are displayed in the winery, along with a collection of angels. They also offer a tree-trimming tu- torial, Deck the Halls, on Nov. 11 and 18 for those who are interested in learning the "how-to" of holiday splendor. Do you have a sweet tooth?
